Thread type: M - ISO Metric Coarse Thread DIN 13

Overview table, specification and cross section

With our "ISO metric thread M to DIN 13" table, you always have all the important key data for this thread type to hand and clearly arranged at a glance. The metric ISO thread is the most commonly used thread type in Europe, so you will come across it regularly at work. The ISO metric thread is particularly common in commercially available screws and nuts. The thread shown in the table "ISO metric thread M" is a standard thread with a flank angle of 60°. The metric ISO thread is also a fastening thread that is primarily used to create durable screw connections.

As can be seen from the table for the metric ISO thread, the thread designation is made up of the letter M, the outside diameter in mm and the pitch in mm. To make it easier for you to use for different applications, we have also included the corresponding conversion to inches for the outside diameter and the threads per inch in the "ISO metric thread M" table. So if you want or need to work with imperial specifications, you can easily read the corresponding values from the table for the metric ISO thread M and no longer have to do the math yourself.

The information in the table for the metric ISO thread corresponds to DIN standard 13-1, which covers standard threads from 1 to 68 mm in diameter. As you can see from the M thread table, the distance between the thread sizes increases with increasing size. While there are five more thread sizes between the M 1 and M 2 threads in the table for the metric ISO thread, there are already several mm between the individual thread sizes at the upper end of the table.

For all threads with a flank angle of 60°, you can calculate the appropriate core hole diameter using a simple formula. Simply take the required outside diameter and pitch values from the table for the metric ISO thread. Now subtract the pitch from the outside diameter to obtain the required core hole diameter.
