Thread type: MF - ISO Metric Fine Thread DIN 13
Overview table, specification and cross section
Our table for the metric ISO fine pitch thread according to DIN 13 provides you with a good overview of all the important values you need for thread machining. As the name suggests, the MF thread is a fine pitch thread. Fine threads differ from coarse or standard threads in that they have a smaller pitch, which you can also find in the table for the metric fine thread. Due to the fine pitch, a screw penetrates less into the receiving thread per revolution. A metric fine pitch thread according to the MF thread table is therefore particularly suitable for adjusting screws because it enables fine adjustment. Screws with an MF fine pitch thread also have particularly good self-locking properties, which makes them less sensitive to vibrations. They are also suitable for thin-walled components due to their shallow thread depth. However, as threads according to the above table for metric fine pitch threads are also more easily soiled and more susceptible to damage, they should only be used when their special properties are actually required.
As you can see from the table for the metric ISO fine pitch thread, the thread designation is made up of the abbreviation MF, the outside diameter and the pitch. All specifications are in mm. In our MF thread table, however, you can also see the conversion for the outside diameter in inches and for the pitch in threads per inch. This means you can also use our metric ISO fine pitch thread table if you only work with inch specifications.
The flank angle of the MF thread is 60°, analogous to the metric standard thread. Our MF metric fine pitch thread table includes thread sizes from MF 2 x 0.25 to MF 52 x 3.0, with several different pitches assigned to almost all values for the outside diameter. You should therefore take particular care to find the thread size you require. You can easily calculate the appropriate core hole dimensions yourself using the information from the table for the metric ISO fine pitch thread. To do this, simply subtract the pitch from the outside diameter.
