Buttress Thread DIN 513
The DIN 513 buttress thread is a metric standard thread for general application. The DIN 513 buttress thread has an asymmetrical profile, resembling a saw blade. This gives it higher load-bearing capacity and is particularly designed for one-sided axial loads. It is commonly used as a motion thread in spindles of presses, collets on lathes, in lifting equipment, or in mining.
The DIN 513 buttress thread is a metric thread, with all dimensions given in mm. The flank angle is 33°. However, it should be noted that the flank angle of the DIN 513 buttress thread comprises two parts, each angle between an imaginary vertical line and the load-bearing flank or non-load-bearing flank. Therefore, the flank angle of the DIN 513 buttress thread is sometimes also specified as 30°/3°.
The thread designation consists of the abbreviation S, the nominal diameter, and the pitch in mm, for example, S 40 x 7.
In the table below for the DIN 513 buttress thread, you can read both the external diameter and the core hole diameter in mm. As the DIN 513 buttress thread is a more specialized thread type, we do not always have all dimensions in stock. However, we are happy to manufacture custom dies and taps for the DIN 513 buttress thread. Please contact us with your request.
