Trapezoidal Thread (Fine) DIN 103
This thread type is the fine thread variant of the metric ISO trapezoidal thread according to DIN 103. Compared to the metric standard trapezoidal thread, it has a smaller pitch. Trapezoidal threads have a profile in the shape of an isosceles trapezoid. Used as motion threads, they are not for fastening but to convert rotary motion into axial movement. They are typically used in lead screws on lathes or spindle screws on vices.
The DIN 103 fine trapezoidal thread has a flank angle of 30°.
The thread designation consists of three components: the abbreviation Tr, the nominal diameter, and the pitch in mm. For example, Tr 14 x 2.
The table below lists only the dimensions for the fine trapezoidal thread according to DIN 103. Thread tables for the trapezoidal thread often list pitches for both fine and standard threads in the same table. In addition to the thread designation, the external diameter and core hole diameter in mm are given.
