Dairy Pipe Fitting DIN 11851
DIN 11851 deals with stainless steel fittings for the food and chemical industries and the corresponding pipe fittings. The term "dairy pipe fittings" or the colloquial "dairy thread" arises from the original application area, which initially only encompassed the dairy industry. Nowadays, dairy pipe fittings are used throughout the food industry and also in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The basis for dairy pipe fittings are the dimensions of the metric round thread according to DIN 405. A round thread is predestined for this task because it is easy to clean and requires low maintenance.
The thread for dairy pipe fittings has a flank angle of 30°. The thread designation according to DIN 11851 consists of the abbreviation DN and a fixed numerical value. Behind this thread designation are selected dimensions from the standard for metric round threads DIN 405, designated by the abbreviation Rd, the external diameter, and the pitch. The external diameter is given in mm, and the pitch in threads per inch.
The thread table for the thread of dairy pipe fittings contains the thread designation according to DIN 11851 as well as the designation for the corresponding round thread. Also listed are the external diameter, the core hole diameter, and the bolt diameter, each in mm. The pitch is given in threads per inch and as a metric value. Threads for dairy pipe fittings can be processed with taps for the corresponding round thread, accessible via the links to our shop. Due to the sometimes quite large dimensions for dairy pipe fittings, we do not always have all sizes in stock but can produce any required diameter upon request.
