Thread for Plastic Containers DIN 6063
Threads for plastic containers according to DIN 6063 are intended for the closures of bottles and cans, preferably made of plastic. Threads for plastic containers are realized as two different types of threads: DIN 6063-1 describes buttress threads for plastic containers, while DIN 6063-2 lists trapezoidal threads for plastic containers.
The buttress thread for plastic containers has an asymmetrical profile in the shape of a buttress tooth. The flank angle consists of two values: the angle at the load-bearing flank, which is about 10°, and the angle at the non-load-bearing flank, which is 30° or 40°. The thread designation for the buttress thread consists of the abbreviation KS and the external diameter in mm, for example, KS 22. The abbreviation KS stands for plastic buttress thread.
In the thread table for the buttress thread for plastic containers, the external diameter and core diameter for bolts and nuts are listed separately. Also provided is the pitch in mm and the value for the angle at the non-load-bearing flank. Since this is not constant, it must also be read from the table. The sizes not in brackets are the recommended sizes.
The trapezoidal thread for plastic containers has a profile in the shape of an isosceles trapezoid. The flank angle is approximately 20° or 10° ± 1° per flank. The abbreviation for the thread consists of the letters K for plastic and T for trapezoidal thread. The thread designation also includes the external diameter in mm, in the form of KT 14.
The thread table for the trapezoidal thread for plastic containers also contains the external diameter and core diameter for the bolt and the nut. Additionally, the pitch in mm is listed. Here too, brackets in the thread table indicate the less recommended combinations of external diameter and pitch.
Buttress threads or trapezoidal threads for plastic containers can be made upon request in the desired size. Please feel free to contact us anytime!
